The Comparison Between Roomba and 890 and 690

The design of Roomba 890 and 690 is pretty basic. Both of them have the same types of buttons to control the device. However, at the center of 690 is a button that starts the auto-clean.

You can use the iRobot home app to program the cleaning schedule on 690. The four buttons on both devices include the auto clean/ settings, bumper, handle and finally, the bin release.

The usability of both vacuum cleaners is quite good. They both have Wi-Fi connectivity and IRobot home app.

Installing the brushes and using the devices for the first time is not difficult.

However, with 890, you may need to register the app and take a few minutes to install it. Installing the app in 690 is optional. You can just press the ‘clean' button, and the device starts cleaning right away.

The cleaning action between 690 and 890 is entirely different. In 690, the side brushes push the debris into the path of the central brush. In contrast, the 890 use dual brushes that prevent tangling.

The advanced brush roll on 890 is quite useful on dealing with pet hair. It prevents tangling and picks dog hair effortlessly. Head-to-head, 890 is far better than 690 when it comes to cleaning pet hair.

890 & 690

Despite the differences, the brush roll on 690 has the same lifespan as the dual brush rolls on 890. However, it is much cheaper than the dual brush roll.

Both robotic vacuum cleaners have side sensors. However, the 890 is more efficient in that regard. It uses memory in addition to the sensors to remember obstacles and clean efficiently. Unlike its counterpart the 690, the 890 does not keep bumping on obstacles.

The 690 uses the AeroVac filter. This feature uses much more space in the dirt bin. In contrast, the 890 has a more efficient HEPA filter and makes use of the AeroForce system. It does not take much space in the bin.

The 890 has more area for dirt and debris. But that does not mean its filtration system is low performance.

Both 690 and 890 are innovative vacuum cleaners. However, there are differences between the two. For example, the 890 is much more expensive than 690.

The difference in prices is in the features. For example, the 890 has a better cleaning action and uses memory. The 690 is affordable and comes with basic features.
